A Unified Treatment Protocol for Cleft Lip and Palate
This protocol provides a comprehensive treatment framework for congenital cleft cases, covering the pre-surgical, surgical intervention, and subsequent rehabilitation stages, and aims to standardize practice across medical centers partnered with the association.
This protocol is updated periodically in coordination with the association’s scientific committee in line with the latest global scientific evidence.

Initial assessment and diagnosis
A thorough examination in the first weeks after birth to determine the type and extent of the cleft, and to assess the child's general condition.

Pre-surgical preparation
Monitoring the child's growth and weight, stabilizing nutritional status, and determining the optimal timing for surgical intervention (typically between 3-6 months for lip repair).

Surgical intervention
Performing the lip repair procedure, followed later by palate repair between 9-12 months according to the association's protocol.

Follow-up and rehabilitation
Regular follow-up including speech therapy and nutrition sessions, and jaw growth assessment through to adulthood.
